NBA All-Star Weekend is one of the most important dates of the year for sneakerheads, and you shouldn’t need me to explain why. With all eyes on the game itself — this year, tickets to Sunday’s midseason classic are approaching Super Bowl price levels — the stuff that the players are wearing on the court can often overshadow everything else. Just make sure you don’t forget that there are other sneakers releasing. And we’re not just talking about Jordan Brand‘s latest remastered retros like the “Bulls Over Broadway” and “Lady Liberty.”
We’re talking about this “XENO” adidas Originals collection.
The folks at adidas are coming off an unofficial MVP performance from 2014, where we saw them release what many are calling the sneaker of the year in the Pure Boost. They also had innovative lifestyle shoes like the Tubular Runner, the vastly underrated C-10, and the definitive answer to Nike‘s Roshe Run, the ZX Flux. But it appears they’re gearing up for another run at the crown in ’15, starting here with a collection featuring some of their most classic silhouettes.
The XENO pack is inspired by snakeskin, particularly the Xenopeltis snake found in Southeast Asia. The designers took the snake’s highly iridescent scales and pushed adidas’ history of snakeskin to another level. In this collection, you’ll find black shoes capable of exploding into bright colors that span the entire spectrum of the rainbow with a single flash from a camera. It doesn’t just reflect one color, either. As the light shifts so too does the color. In that sense, the shoe is completely transformed whenever you see it through the camera lens.
The XENO collection features three different silhouettes: the Flux, Superstar, and the Metro Attitude. Also available will be a colorway of the Superstar inspired by Pharrell, as well as a few extra quickstrike colorways only available in Times Square for the Metro Attitude and the classic adidas Top Ten.
Make sure you aren’t missing out on these at Champs Sports, as these shoes will be perfect if you’re trying to stunt out in New York City for the big weekend ahead. Hit the party looking fly.
