For perhaps the first time in my lifetime as a sneakerhead, I think it’s fair to argue that lifestyle silhouettes are more universally hyped and loved than the traditional basketball signature. I think there are a couple of reasons for that. The first one is that, outside of NBA players, it seems like there’s only a very small percentage of sneakerheads who cop Air Jordan retros to hoop in. The vast majority of us are looking to stunt. Then there’s the synthetic craze, which has more and more “basketball” products moving away from premium materials and instead focusing on aspects of the design that strictly benefit people on the court.
Take these factors into account, and then add in things like the dozens of incredible new lifestyle silhouettes on the market and it somewhat makes sense. Cats want versatile shoes they can wear with anything nowadays. It’s a good thing for all of us, though, that sneakers that meet these requirements have been around for a long, long time.
Now available at Champs Sports in an assortment of dope colorways, many of them dropping just in time for Back to School, is the PUMA Suede Classic. And the latest colorway in blue and green is one of the loudest ones yet.
Born in 1968 as a simple suede upper and rubber outsole, the Suede Classic actually began just like many of PUMA’s most classic shoes: on the track. It went on to discover fame among dancers and hip-hop artists, and even ascended to basketball royalty by becoming the shoe of choice for Clyde Frazier.
The PUMA Suede Classic is one of those rare sneaker silhouettes that still looks just as good now as it did when it first launched. Get with the game before you get left behind this year. Cop one of the all-time best lifestyle shoes.
