    Release Date: October 10

The latest release in the greatest signature sneaker line of our generation, the LeBron 13 is definitely drawing a line in the sand for a lot of sneakerheads out there. But you know what? I think that’s by design. Every year his sneaker is a late riser, as people don’t know what to make of it at first and then grow to love it. The first colorway is going to kill; don’t miss out and regret it later.

  • Nike KD 8 "Easy Euro"

    Release Date: October 17

Kevin Durant‘s signature sneaker line is notorious for using unique inspiration from his own personal life for his sneakers. Sometimes they make perfect sense–like the ongoing series for his Aunt Pearl…or his obsession with outer space and the weather. Other times–like the PB&J KD VI–it comes through in odd fashion. With a Bright Citrus sole, andĀ Lunar Grey, Squadron Green, and Alligator colors used on the upper and midsole, this edition is not only something paying respect to fallen warriors, but it is also meant to mimic European culture in a celebration of the sneakerheads across the pond.

  • Air Jordan 8 Three Times a Charm
Air Jordan VIII "Three Time's a Charm"

    Release Date: October 24

Celebrating the championship that Michael Jordan and the Bulls won in 1993 is this new retro colorway of the VIII. For their third straight title in the early ’90s, Chicago beat Phoenix in six and MJ wore the original VIII. In this retro, we see many of the Phoenix colors come through as accents, as well as the Lakers and Blazers, the first two teams that Chicago beat in the ’91 and ’92 NBA Finals. But the best part of this release is easily the new branding on the tongue. It looks super dope.

October is one of the best months of the year for basketball fans. Back in the day, it was always the time when the season and fall leagues really picked up and you got a chance to check out who had actually been playing over the summer and who hadn’t. It’s the calm before the storm, the chance to gauge your talent level against the competition.

It also features Halloween, which means the NBA is starting, which means life is good.

I love football. Everyone loves football. But there’s nothing better than the NBA. Big matchups every night. National TV overtime clashes. One-on-one duels. Add in the way social media has embraced the game and the experience seems to get better every year.

The start of the NBA season also means many of the game’s top sneakers are either being unveiled for the first time or, at the very least, are getting special edition colorways to commemorate the new year. This year, things are no different. The Nike LeBron 13 is launching this month, as are new colorways for the Nike KD 8 and the Nike Zoom Kobe X. Derrick Rose is getting his sixth signature shoe, and even Air Jordan is getting into the game with a couple of sick retro releases. Overall, there are more than enough releases to satisfy any sneakerhead, more than enough to keep your style on fleek for at least a few more months.

As part of our regular programming here at The Drop, we’re offering you a little preview of the stuff you have to pay attention to. This is the Prequel and these are the October Sneaker Release Dates That You Can’t Miss.
