The Prequel: 8 February Sneaker Release Dates You Can’t Miss

  • Air Jordan 2 Alternate 87

    Air Jordan 2 "Alternate '87"

    Release Date: February 6

This shoe is a piece of JB’s “Alternate” collection in which the brand reimagines old silhouettes to showcase what the sneakers could’ve looked like had Michael Jordan worn player exclusives back in the day. Featuring the iconic black/red color scheme, these will take a little work to floss in. But the end result could be dope. The Jordan II felt somewhat ahead of its time. (And still does.) No Nike Swoosh on the upper. A higher price point. And luxury design in Italy.

Nike Air Trainer Cruz Premium "Rush Blue"

    Release Date: February 10

Signature sneakers can be hit or miss for NFL stars. But if any player deserves his own line it has to be Victor Cruz. The New York wide receiver is regularly touted as one of the world’s most stylish athletes, and these joints back that claim up. This is the best colorway we’ve seen so far, too. With a midfoot strap and a familiar midsole, Complex has described these as being a fitting successor to Bo Jackson‘s sneaker line.

  • adidas ZX Flux XENO Yellow/Blue

    Chris Gosling

    adidas ZX Flux XENO "Yellow/Blue"

    Release Date: February 12

Most sneakerheads would agree with us: the use of “XENO” by adidas has produced some of the year’s best Flux colorways. Just as they unveiled the first collection during last year’s epic All-Star Weekend in New York City, adidas is again bringing the flavor to basketball’s midseason classic. A Yellow/Blue colorway should have your IG lit as we get closer to warmer weather.

    Air Jordan XXX

    Release Date: February 12

One of the launch colorways for MJ’s 30th signature sneaker will surely be a collector’s item in a few years. And yeah, some sneakerheads have complained about the design–saying it was too much like the XX9–but the interesting thing about that is Tinker Hatfield and the rest of the shoe’s designers enjoy that. Initial negative feedback means the sneaker accomplished what it was supposed to–by being something so completely different that no one was ready for it.

    Air Jordan 4 "White/Cement"

    Release Date: February 13

This retro is going to be one of the most hyped sneaker releases of Q1 this year. Not only is it a beloved colorway of a classic silhouette, it’s also bringing back the iconic “Nike Air” on the heel (something we haven’t seen on this colorway since…1999!). JB is continuing its “Remastered” program into 2016. Get ready.

Under Armour Curry Two "3-Point Contest"

    Release Date: February 13

No player in the NBA is more exciting. In fact, Stephen Curry is such a good shooter that watching him shoot might be more fun than watching any ankle-breaking crossover or gravity-defying dunk. The latest Curry Two colorway plays off that while sporting the perfect nickname. A must-cop for Curry collectors.

  • Nike Kyrie 2 Green Glow

    Chris Gosling

    Nike Kyrie 2 "Green Glow"

    Release Date: February 17

We loved Kyrie’s initial sig sneaker last year, and this season’s version is just as hot. With a midfoot strap designed to help you on the court while also staying stylish off of it, the Kyrie 2 looks like something cats will be wearing all year. This particular colorway, with hits of dynamic mint green on the branding and sole unit, might be the best one we’ve seen so far.

  • Air Jordan 12 The Master

    Chris Gosling

    Air Jordan 12 "The Master"

    Release Date: February 27

Any predominantly black Jordan XII that also includes hits of silver and gold is going to be a hit. But this one is extra special. I can’t be the only one who had “The Master” poster growing up, right? From my childhood walls right to my feet.

This Jordan XII almost looks like a first cousin to Drake‘s OVO-inspired Jordan releases.

Remember February last year? NBA All-Star Weekend. New York Fashion Week. The unveiling of Kanye West‘s Yeezy Season 1. Nike and adidas continuing their back-n-forth battle. Last February in New York City, everything came together to create one of the most incredible experiences for basketball fans. From the kicks to the style to the action on the court, it was paradise.

Well, 2016 is going to do its best to match 2015. Just the anticipation surrounding the release of Kanye’s Waves, as well as whatever Drake decides to potentially do with Views From the 6 content (because with ASW in Toronto, he HAS to preview at least a track or two, right?) will have the whole city on fire. But when you add in some memorable releases, like the “Nike Air” Air Jordan IV White/Cement and the iconic 30th signature sneaker for Michael Jordan, you can see why some of us are so excited.

That weekend will be this month’s centerpiece for sneakerheads, but it won’t be the only important moment. We’ll be seeing some of the best signature colorways yet by the Swoosh for Kyrie Irving and Victor Cruz while adidas is bringing back their incredible “XENO” collection. Then on the final weekend of February, we’re getting a never-before-seen colorway for the Jordan XII that should take everyone back to their childhood.

To get you prepared for what’s about to go down, we put together a list of the mornings you just can’t overlook.

This is the Prequel and these are the 8 February Sneaker Release Dates You Can’t Miss. From the launch of the Air Jordan XXX to the return of the original iconic Air Jordan IV with “Nike Air” on the heel, Jordan is killing it right now.
