For folks like us, NBA Opening Night is special. That doesn’t stop with the basketball action, either. All of the brands bring their best. This year, Nike is again hitting us with special edition colorways for their biggest stars.
In Episode 8 of The Drop Video series, we got an early look at opening night colorways for the LeBron 13, Kobe X Low, and the KD 8, the signature sneakers of three of the game’s most intriguing talents. The LeBron 13, a beast of a sneaker draped in a blood red upper, might be the highlight but the KD 8 is one of the hottest new sneakers on the market. This colorway is also the shoe’s first to embrace the Oklahoma City blue and orange. Then there’s the Kobe X, a beautiful silhouette with varying shades of purple that’ll stand out on any court. All three will be available on opening night at Champs Sports.
We also traveled to New Orleans to catch up with one of the deadliest offensive players in the NBA, Tyreke Evans. The 26-year-old is currently recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, though it’s an injury that shouldn’t affect his status during the spring months of this season. At least that’s what Pelicans fans are hoping for; Evans proved last year–16.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game in 2014-15–that he’s one of the franchise’s building blocks.
Evans took us to one of his favorite practice courts, where he talked about what style means to him and how he is getting ready for the season.
Already in this series, we’ve visited Portland to go behind the design of Stephen Curry‘s latest signature sneaker, introduced Kyrie Irving‘s new PSD collection, and let Kris Bryant speak on his love of the adidas ZX Flux. While checking out the latest from Evans and the rest of Nike’s All-Star lineup for the NBA’s Opening Night, stay up on the entire series by seeing all of the full episodes at the Champs Sports YouTube page. For those of you who want to get involved, hit those Instagram sneaker pictures with the hashtag #MyGameMondays for a chance to be featured in a future episode.
Opening night in the NBA should be fascinating, and not just for the action, with Nike is coming correct with new signature sneakers for their biggest stars. For sneakerheads like you and I, this is our holiday. See why in Episode 8 of The Drop.
