NBA All-Star Weekend is always one of the year’s most important events within the sneaker world and every year it seems to grow even bigger.
This year with the release of Kanye West‘s latest album, as well as Drake‘s hometown city Toronto playing host, the league’s midseason classic is reaching cultural heights that probably seemed unobtainable five years ago. Anyone who is anyone will be in the 6ix to celebrate.
A major part of that showcase will be the sneakers, and in Episode 15 of The Drop Video Series, special guest host Jacques Slade is back again to give you a rundown of some of the weekend’s most important sneaker drops. Nike kicks things off this year with their All-Star pack of sneakers for Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James. All three silhouettes feature ties back to the city of Toronto, as well as special graphics and patches to commemorate this year’s All-Star festivities. Also highlighted will be new “XENO” collection drops from adidas Originals for the ZX Flux and Superstar models, a continuation of the initial XENO collection from last season’s All-Star Game. Under Armour and Stephen Curry are coming through with two different models, one called the “Energy,” which is a low-top, and a “3-Point Contest” colorway that should have people hyped.
Finally, there is Jordan Brand, hitting you with both a classic shoe–the White/Cement Air Jordan IV with “Nike Air” on the heel–and the next drop–the launch of the Air Jordan XXX.
From classic signature sneakers to new age designs, this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend will be bringing a lot of sneaker heat. Check out all of it in Episode 15 of The Drop.
