The 10 Best Beards in Sports

  • Jason Motte
    10. Jason Motte

Not only does the Cardinals relief pitcher have a great first name, he also has a phenomenal beard. It certainly is not the most well-groomed beard of the bunch — maybe he could take some notes from Mr. Henrik Zetterberg. Motte was just recently placed on the 15-day disabled list. Hopefully, Motte doesn’t get any crazy ideas with his free. Let the beard grow!

  • Kevin Love
    9. Kevin Love

Kevin Love is reportedly bringing his talents to Cleveland. And I am not talking about his basketball skills. Besides James Harden, Kevin Love has to have the best beard in basketball. Kevin Love’s facial hair will make up for the receding hairline on the top of LeBron’s head.

  • Kimbo Slice
    8. Kimbo Slice

Where to start with this Internet sensation turned professional boxer? Let’s start with his face. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t think there is a picture on the Internet that shows Kimbo Slice without a monstrous beard. Ever since he started videotaping his street fights and putting them online he has had the Rick Ross-type beard. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

  • Dustin Pedroia
    7. Dustin Pedroia

It is only fitting that another member of the 2013 Red Sox championship team makes the list for best beards in sports. Sitting a cool 5-7, Pedroia makes up for his lack of height with his ability to grow facial hair. If only my 5-7 body could grow that daunting of a beard. I guess he has good genetics.

  • Henrik Zetterberg
    6. Henrik Zetterberg

This is a tough one because plenty of NHL players could fill the position for the best beard in hockey. Henrik Zetterberg has rocked a phenomenal beard for his entire career. The Red Wings are frequent visitors of the NHL Playoffs, so lucky for us we get to see Henrik’s beard in full-effect often. Henrik may have sported his best beard in this year’s playoffs.

  • Jonny Gomes
    5. Jonny Gomes

I can promise you one thing; The Oakland Athletics sure upgraded their facial game by acquiring Jonny Gomes before this year’s trade deadline. Jonny Gomes was a vital member of that 2013 Boston Red Sox championship team that had arguably the best playoff beards, as a unit, of all time. Not only did the Red Sox trade away a great player, they also traded away one of the best beards in the MLB.

  • Brett Keisel
    4. Brett Keisel

Brett Keisel is extremely dedicated to his beard game. Since joining the National Football League in 2002, Keisel has rocked one of the greatest beards in all of sports. He is currently trying to find a spot on a roster. If I were a GM I would give him an opportunity just to be able to see that grizzly beard every day.

  • Brian Wilson
    3. Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson is notorious for his massive beard. No way I could leave the Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher out of the top two spots. In 2013, the Yankees had to pass on offering Wilson a contract because he refused to shave his beard. That is some serious dedication. I wonder how much it would take for Wilson to shave his beard. Would he do it for $1 million? Probably not.

  • Tim Howard
    2. Tim Howard

USA! USA! USA! This is a very patriotic pick. I’m still feeling the effects of those 16 saves vs. Belguim.  Tim Howard is as bald as can be on top, but has a mean, piercing beard that can be seen by the opposing goalie.

  • James Harden
    1. James Harden

Harden’s had a beard for so long that we can’t even remember what he looks like without one. It’s part of his style, his trademark. He’s even said in the past that the only way he would even think about shaving would be if someone offered him $10 million. That’s absurd but it also makes sense. The dude has an eccentric style that all starts with that look. Take that away and what does he have?

Fear The Beard! Since blossoming into a star in the NBA, James Harden has been synonymous with one thing: his extravagant beard. Last season, the Houston Rockets shooting guard said he wouldn’t even shave his beard for $1 million. That’s how dedicated he is.

In honor of the Rockets’ lefty turning 25 years young today, we have decided to dedicate an entire article to beards. Here is a list of 10 current athletes with the best beards in sports.
