If you’ve been following The Drop since we first launched, you know about our love of the adidas Stan Smith. A classic sneaker since first taking shape in the 1960s — not only is it adidas’ best-selling sneaker of all time, but it’s also sold over 40 million pairs — the tennis shoe has re-released this spring and summer to rave reviews, and features an updated look to resonate with the next generation of style fanatics.
While the shoe was originally meant for French tennis player Robert Haillet, American standout Stan Smith started wearing it in 1971, and then went out and won the U.S. Open on grass, and the Davis Cup on clay. The following year, he won Wimbledon. By ’78, it was Smith’s and Smith’s alone.
Available now at Champs Sports, you can cop the original in all of its white-based and green-accented glory, or you can step up to 2014 and grab one of the multiple suede colorways available.
