Style Points: Neymar Is Back and James Harrison Shuts Down the Ice Bucket Challenge

  • James Harrison

If you have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or honestly any type of access to the Internet — or friends for that matter — you probably know or have seen someone who has dumped a bucket of water and ice (#IceBucketChallenge) on their head to raise awareness for ALS. My social feeds are clogged with these videos and pictures, and as of late more and more celebrities and athletes are taking part. Everyone from Drake to LeBron have participated. However James Harrison, known to be one of the toughest guys in the NFL, definitely “won” the Ice Bucket Challenge. Watch this. The earning of style points will be beyond obvious. That’s about all I can say.

  • Mo’Ne Davis

Even if you aren’t a “baseball person” it’s kinda hard to ignore the Little League World Series. It’s one of many great traditions in the sports world and each year it’s always exciting to see which 12 or 13-year-old kids will emerge as superstars. This year one of many superstars is a young girl who earns so many Style Points that professional superstars like Mike Trout and Kevin Durant recognized her ability. Mo’Ne recently struck out eight batters without any walks to become the first girl to throw a shutout at the Little League Series. Wow.

  • Pierce Jones

Speaking of Little League superstars… this kid earns his Style Points for his abilities on the opposite side of the mound as Mo’Ne. It’s typical to see one or two home runs total in a game at the LLWS, and the individuals who do so are usually remembered. As a single player, if you hit one home run in a game, cool. Two home runs? Wow. Three? Okay, probably gonna see this on SportsCenter. Three home runs and a triple? Style Points (and SportsCenter). That’s right, Pierce Jones of Chicago’s Jackie Robinson West Little League team hit three home runs and a triple in their 12-2 win over Washington.

  • Neymar

Well assuming you watched the World Cup, or even kept up with the news during June, you would’ve seen the not-so-awful-looking, yet extremely detrimental World Cup-ending injury to Neymar during Brazil’s game versus Colombia. Brazil’s superman has returned; he earns his Style Points by way of the two goals he scored for FC Barcelona in his first game back since the injury, the first of which was a gorgeous chip and the second, a beautiful backheel. Both are well deserving of Style Points. Looks like FC Barcelona is in for a great year.

  • Ronaldo

We’re used to Cristiano Ronaldo being one of the best soccer players in the world. We’re used to his standout goals, incredible volleys, and impressive penalty kicks. We’re also used to his reputation. However, Ronaldo surprised us and earned his Style Points with this impressive set of (clapping) pushups while, to be honest, the rest of Real Madrid seemed to be struggling a little bit — not to mention his scorpion kick-up at the end of his workout. We’re used to Ronaldo being the best, but in this fashion, it’s something new. Here are your Style Points.

    Lil Wayne and Drake

Life is good for Lil Wayne and Drake right now. Currently on their historic joint tour, the duo is getting all the love … from new exclusive Air Jordan 3s to extra attention from Nicki Minaj. To top it off, they just got new Young Money OVO chains. And they are pretty insane.

Avianne Jewelers out in Queens — seen in the image above — hooked the two rappers up. (He’s already done pieces for Busta Rhymes, Birdman, and Future.) The chains are a play on words, mixing YM with OVO into a cool little design. Drake and Wayne have been down with each other since the very start, and even as the pupil — Drake — has become the master over the last few years, it’s obvious they still have love and respect for each other.

Odds are you played baseball as a kid. T-ball? Okay maybe you didn’t but if that’s the case you probably at least kicked a soccer ball around once or twice, right? Ugh, even if you haven’t, I’m sure you’ve thrown a football around with a friend? Hopefully you’ve played all three sports at some point, but either way, this week’s Style Points have you covered with the latest from the Internet trends, Little League World Series, the sexiest man in the soccer world, and NFL training camp. Sit back, enjoy, and prepare to be amazed with this week’s Style Points selections.
