As you are all trying to recover from the long holiday weekend, we are making sure you didn’t miss anything important from the sports or fashion world over the past several days. A lot of exciting things went down while you were busy partying and looking out at those nice fireworks.
The July 4th weekend was topped off with a nice piece of hardware: the 2015 FIFA World Cup Trophy. And you thought watching fireworks was cool. The U.S. women got off to an incredible start by scoring four goals in the first 16 minutes of the game, led by their captain Carli Lloyd, who scored three of them.
NBA free agency also started and it has been pretty crazy. The two big name free agents, LaMarcus Aldridge and DeAndre Jordan, left their current teams to join teams in Texas. LA signed a deal with the San Antonio Spurs, while DJ inked his max deal with Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks. Kevin Love re-signed with the Cavs, which was a surprise to me, and Rajon Rondo going to the Kings makes little sense to me. Seems like a trial year to see if he can make a comeback to All-Star status. Khris Middleton and Reggie Jackson got a combined $150 million from their respective teams, the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons. My New York Knicks made a splash in free agency, signing one of the two Lopez twins, as well as former lottery pick, Derrick Williams.

DENNIS SMITH JR.
This video surfaced last week. It is of a hooper named Dennis Smith showing off his leaping ability in front of a packed gym full of campers. Smith just so happens to be one of the best prospects in the Class of 2016. The dunk is absolutely filthy. He takes off from a few feet inside the free throw line and brings the ball below his waist to then thrown down an emphatic dunk. If only I was a foot taller…

What do you do right after you sign a ridiculous $145 million contract extension? Get right back in the gym and work on your shooting. If Anthony Davis is hitting three-pointers next season the Pelicans are going to make a serious run in the playoffs. This kid is that good. Also, Steph, get ready to give that MVP trophy from the kid out of Kentucky.
What do you do right after you sign a $90 million deal with the team you won a ring with? Go hangout with the legend Snoop Dogg. In the picture you notice that KW is wearing a matching hat and shirt. If you aren’t familiar with the logo, it is called “The Claw” and has Kawhi’s initials in the logo. I think the design is dope and should be turned into a legitimate clothing line. Why stop at $90 million, Kawhi? Get this brand going.
This is the type of goal you dream about as a young soccer player, and very rarely do you see it in the biggest game in soccer. By the sixth minute we, the U.S. of A, had a 2-0 lead on rival Japan. Eleven minutes later the lead had swollen to 4-0. Carli Lloyd was playing out of her mind. In the press conference after the game, she said she had blacked out the first 30 minutes of the game. Good thing Carli can score hat tricks while blacked out.
