Stephen Curry has officially arrived. It’s one thing to make an All-Star team or be featured in commercials or become a media darling or, perhaps, even lead the league in All-Star votes. It’s another thing entirely to get your own signature sneaker. Curry has that now, thanks to Under Armour.
UA has been designing and meticulously planning this release for years, ever since pulling Golden State’s 6-3 point guard away from Nike. He has worn the Anatomix Spawn and ClutchFit Drive in the past before finally having his new sneaker unveiled earlier this season. It actually was perfect timing too, considering the Warriors are far and away the league’s best team while playing at an almost historic pace. They’re doing all of that despite playing in the West, as loaded a conference as we’ve ever seen.
The sneaker Curry will wear in this year’s All-Star Game — the Curry One “Dark Matter” — features a space theme, something that’s not unusual for All-Star sneakers, at least lately. This shoe is different, however, with a custom, atom-inspired label accenting the tongue, purple camouflage along the upper, x-ray accenting, and it wouldn’t be complete without UA’s patented Charged Cushioning.
This All-Star edition, as well as the home royal launch colorway, are both dropping today at Champs Sports. Looking at the trajectory of Curry’s career, this shoe could be the first in what might turn out to be a long, lucrative, and super dope lineup.
Thank the basketball gods that Stephen Curry’s First Under Armour Signature Sneaker Is Finally Here.
