Teyana Taylor is more than just Iman Shumpert‘s girl. She’s also more than just the hot chick who got crossed up at the Air Jordan XX9 launch last summer in Las Vegas, a video that spawned hundreds of memes and Vines (with cries of “She’s still a better defender than James Harden“). She’s not just that chick who appeared last minute on Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and she’s not just a performer either.

She’s also, apparently, a sneakerhead.

In this day and age, ladies everywhere are showing there’s more to this game than just the fellas. Yeah, it’s still the ballplayers and, more and more, the rappers who are setting trends and creating hype. But there are more than a few trendsetting females out there. Just look at Va$htie, a woman who’s made a name for herself by becoming the first woman to ever collaborate with the Jordan Brand. Or better yet, look at Taylor, a 24-year-old who has already built up a following that includes 1.8 million Instagram followers. Think about that — her bae Shumpert is a vital player on the NBA’s marquee team in Cleveland, a guy known for his impeccable style and swagger…and he has less than half of that. Crazy.

Girls look up to Taylor for her style and kicks.

“I get a lot of my fashion inspiration from Teyana Taylor, Karrueche, Seiko, and a lot of urban/underground brands,” female sneakerhead and former Stash participant Janelle Morgan (@jcheyenne_) told me recently. “More TT than anyone because she’s a very well-known celebrity female sneakerhead so I really look up to her and what she rocks with her shoes and then try to put my own twist to it.”

In this edition of She Got Game, check out why Teyana Taylor is a flourishing fashion icon.
