“A formula I often follow for summer outfits is: tank top, boyfriend jeans, flyknits, as shown in this photo. When my outfit is really basic (usually is), I go for more of a standout shoe, like these multicolor Flyknit Trainers. Plus, they’re easy breezy for the hot weather and I don’t need to wear socks or feel gross about not wearing socks.”

“These EQTs from the ‘White Pack’ were gifted to me from somebody in Germany and I’m so grateful because they never hit Canada. Despite being about two sizes too big, I’ll never let them go–I just double sock and carry on because it be like that sometimes. I don’t think these are as appreciated in Toronto unfortunately but those that know, know.”

“My affinity for all-white sneakers is pretty known among my friends and followers by now. These weren’t a special release or anything but I had to get them stateside and get a lot of compliments on them now. They’re impossible to keep clean and collect dirt like a sock so it’s pretty much one wear then laundry!”

“I don’t even really wear Jordans much but I do make sure to pick up the ones that I felt like I missed out on during my childhood, like these Grape Vs. They don’t fit as well with my every day wardrobe so they usually end up being worn with sweats when I’m going to the gym or my rec basketball games. I mean, if anyone could help me style these better I’d love to know how!”

“Some of my more knowledgeable sneaker friends knock me for rocking the GS version of these but they never dropped the women’s sizes in Canada (surprise, surprise) and I got them for the low low. Most of my friends have no idea anyway. I still need to break them in more so I wear 3/4 elite socks to protect my ankles from blisters–sock game needs to be taken care of as well.”

“This pair is from the 2013 release and has been getting a lot of playing time lately ever since I swapped the black laces out for white. I really love the I, especially with destroyed jeans. Jordan Is are in my top three favorite sneakers to wear and I’ll never let any of them go either. They look cool clean and beat up, although I don’t think I have the heart to wear any of them down like that yet.”

“I’m pretty sure these hot punch Roshes were the first ones–I could be wrong but it was the first pair I ever saw back in 2012 and I had to have them. It’s funny, when I wore them on this day of the photo a couple of the girls were hype and asked if these were a new color and I was just like, ‘Huh? No, they’re just Roshes and they’re really old.’ This is a typical outfit for when I have a full day and need to get to the gym at some point–Nike tights and sports bra under whatever else I’m wearing.”

“I was a huge thirst-bucket for these on the low and if it wasn’t such a hassle to get NIKEiD orders in Canada I would have done so a long time ago. They’re impossible to keep clean but I know I wore them for like two weeks straight when I first got them back in the spring. They’re cool with most outfits. I wish I got extra pairs. This is another formula I follow for cooler days: destroyed denim, a basic top, and my black trench coat with cool sneaks.”

Timbs are a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe but they get a bit of play in the summer as well. They look pretty cool with denim shorts and pretty much everything. If the AF1 or Superstar is your everyday summer/spring shoe, then these need to be the fall/winter shoe. I like them with leather, fleece, denim–everything.”

“Prestos are making a huge statement this year and it makes me happy to see all the love for them. I didn’t get any of the new colors because I’m perfectly happy with this pair that I got back in 2008 and we’ve been through a lot together, including a very dramatic nail polish spill that nearly ruined the shoes. This is my No. 1 favorite sneaker that I own and styles easily with almost anything.”

Toronto, long slept on, is finally getting the attention it deserves thanks to Drake, the city’s unofficial ambassador. But T-Dot offers a lot more than just the OVO crew. The gauzy backbeats booming out of the city owe themselves to the melting pot of disparate cultures T-Dot naturally hosts. (Roughly 50 percent of its population is foreign born.) To see just how fly the city can get, from a sneaker and style perspective, all you have to do is pull up Anna Bediones’ Instagram page.

Among the lot of sneakerheads and influencers, Anna’s one of my favorites because of the unassuming style she proposes with every post. She’s far from a “try hard” and the sneakers she shows off are accented with an innate curatorial touch–ease of style and confidence spreads wildly when comfort is the focal point.

Her love for sneakers stems from her father’s love for the game, and as she told me, “He put me in sneakers as soon as I could wear shoes. He’s heavily immersed in basketball culture; that really influenced him and he passed it on to my brother as well, and I just kept it.” The only thing stopping her from owning all the heat is that “small sizes are hard to find.”

Her pictures are the only things that hold still. To challenge herself, she runs comfortably through the 6 and onto a high pedestal as an influencer.

Read on as Anna takes us on a tour through the way she puts it all together. Here’s How @atothebed Stays Killing the Instagram Comp.
