The XX9 is one of the best performing sneakers of the year and unlike its predecessor, it functions as a great shoe off the floor as well. Coming up in December is the “Blackout” version, always a necessity when we’re talking Jordans.

With full Boost technology, the D Rose 5 has been a stellar release in 2014. So good that, dare we say, this is the single most overlooked sneaker of the year. It’s that good. This colorway might be the best one yet too. Just simple swag.

I still remember when the first Spizike dropped. Heads weren’t feeling it, even though it incorporated some of the coolest aspects of the line’s most legendary sneakers. Now it’s back again in a sick new colorway and EVERYONE is clamoring for it. Don’t miss out.

    Nike Air Zoom Flight 96

    Release Date: December 13

One of the most classic silhouettes from the 1990s is back again. As part of the ‘Carbon Fiber’ Pack releasing this month, this sneaker features a nubuck upper with carbon fiber detailing, and that sick translucent sole. I copped these the last time they came out and there’s no doubt I’ll do it again.

Is this sneaker the biggest holiday release in recent memory? It’s certainly up there. Coming back for the first time in over a decade, the “Legend Blue” XI is about as crisp as they come.

December is here and with it comes about 15 different pairs of sneakers that you really need to cop. Seriously, we all know this is one of the biggest and best months of the year for sneakerheads, from the stuff you see on the court in the NBA to what you see on the ‘gram after every big release. We also know Black Friday and the other big shopping days call for a lot of sneakers flying on and off of the shelves. It’s important that you keep up with the competition because, in the end, that’s what this game is all about.

This month we have more than a few standouts. Nike did it big with what figure to be some amazing Christmas colorways for their leading guys, LeBron, Kobe, and KD, as well as a return of the 1990s classic, the Nike Air Zoom Flight 96. Then Jordan Brand has the “Blackout” Air Jordan XX9 and other notable holiday standouts like the “Legend Blue” XI. If you thought that was enough, adidas came correct with the best colorway yet of the D Rose 5 Boost, maybe the most underrated basketball sneaker of the entire year.

Yes, we know money is tight around this time of year. There are parties, meet-ups with former friends and old buddies, and of course, presents. But a true sneakerhead also understands they must budget ahead of time for this month. Hopefully you did that. If not…best think ahead for next year. This is The Prequel: December Sneakers You Can’t Miss.

No they aren’t OGs but that’s okay with me. Featuring classic Bulls colors on an all-black shoe is never wrong and the XIII has always given itself really well to black uppers. I’m expecting this to be one of the surprises of the holiday season in that years from now if you missed out, you’ll be smacking yourself for it.

NIKE’s CHRISTMAS LINEUP (Kobe 9, LeBron 12, KD7)
Release Date: December holidays
This year’s Christmas lineup is absurd and thankfully, unlike last year, Kobe is getting to rock his on the court. There are more than a few reasons why this shoe is so incredible to play in. Make sure you’re seeing for yourself this year.

The LeBron 12 has been a powerhouse this season and LeBron has to be considered one of the early favorites for the unofficial title of “best kicks in the league” this year. With incredible detailing and a dope concept, James always gets laced on this big holiday.

The KD7 is another silhouette that’s killed it from the moment it launched this summer up until now. With the man himself back in the fold, this Christmas colorway is going to be a monster. As always.

Release Date: December 26
This year’s version of the Air Max is a classic, building off and improving off earlier versions of the sneaker to create something that can actually look super fresh when you wear it out. It’s also made a number of technological changes that really enhance the overall product.
