The Only Pregame and Postgame Playlist Every Football Player Needs This Season

    Drake – “Charged Up”

Let’s start this off the right way. In response to Meek’s claim that Drake doesn’t right his own raps and Funk Flex dropping the alleged “original” “10 Bands,” Drake dropped this gem on Apple Radio. It’s perfect for the pregame because of the theme behind the song. You need to be charged up before taking the field, so pop this on and get ready to rumble.

Future feat. Drake – “Where Ya At?”

This list wouldn’t be complete without some Future. “Where Ya At,” one of the standout tracks from DS2, is a perfect theme song for all professional football players. Professional athletes, specifically NFL players, have been known to spend their money in not-so-wise ways. It usually happens when they have large entourages and extravagant lifestyles. The idea behind Future’s song is wondering where you were when he was broke, had no money, and wasn’t famous. The same idea adds fuel to these athletes.

Mac Miller feat. Rick Ross – “Insomniak”

I love this mixtape. Faces was the most underrated mixtape in 2014. Point blank. One of my favorite tracks from the tape is “Insomniak” with MMG president Ricky Rozay. The beat is hard, the lyrics are dope, and it generally just gets me pumped. It’s a perfect pre and post-game song, especially if your team gets a victory. “I’m the motherf*ckin greatest, y’all don’t know that yet.”

Eminem – “Sway in the Morning (Freestyle)”

I’m so curious why the video for this hasn’t surfaced yet. I would love to watch Eminem kill this 8-minute freestyle. Either way this freestyle is pure gold. Eminem goes in about tons of current events and you get the feeling of when you were listening to the angry Em in middle school getting ready for that rec league basketball game. This is a perfect track to get super hyped too right before you take the field.

Rick Ross feat. Drake and Lil’ Reese – “Us”

The second-oldest song on the list might come as a surprise to some. I was on shuffle the other day with my 3,000-plus songs and this one came on and I forgot how good this song was. The Young Chop-produced beat is a banger. Rick Ross goes in, passes the mic to Drizzy, who absolutely murders his bars, then Lil’ Reese does his thing, rounded out by a final Ross verse. This is one of those postgame tracks that you huddle around and dance like you just won the Super Bowl.

Meek Mill feat. Swizz Beatz and Jeremih – “Classic”

You know you have a smash when you get Swizz Beatz involved. The second song on Meek’s DWMTM album, in my opinion, is the best beat on the project. C’mon if you aren’t listening to Meek before your game, what are you really doing? It’s still #MeekSeason.

Fetty Wap feat. Drake – “My Way (Remix)”

You better get that win if you want to hear this song after a grueling, hard-fought game. The extremely catchy song from Fetty Wap is the perfect anthem to get the team loose and excited. This club banger is sure to get the locker room in unison.

Silento – “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)”

The viral song that has taken the world by storm is Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae).” Even Riley Curry got in the mix. Between this and “My Way” your team will be in full-on dance mode before taking the field. Energized, excited, and swagged out, to be exact.

Vic Mensa feat. Kanye West – “U Mad”

The turn-up song of the summer. The recent Roc Nation signee recruits Kanye to hop on his smash, “U Mad.” This might be the ultimate pre and post-game song. The beat pumps you up before the game and the lyrics ask your opponents if they are mad they lost. U MAD HUHHHHHH??!!

Eminem feat. Nate Dogg – “‘Till I Collapse”

Easily my favorite gym track of all time. There really needs no explanation why this has to be the last song your team listens to before taking the field. You are about to go into battle and “‘Till I Collapse” is the perfect get-ready-for-war song.

It’s that time of year again. Football camps are starting up not only in the NFL but in high school as well. This is where you truly separate the studs from the duds. Yes, everyone can get up to play on Sunday or Saturday. But what about when it’s 100 degrees out and you’re running drills in that summer heat? Yeah, you need something to push you through it. Whereas baseball players have walk-up songs to get them hyped, football players can only listen before and after a game or a workout. Because of that, each song needs to hit hard and grab their attention right away.

What a perfect time to create a playlist curated around getting hyped before your game while also being able to turn up with the squad after getting that coveted W. Hip-hop is at an interesting place right now. A rapper with one eye from New Jersey is absolutely crushing the game with numerous top-charting hits. Meek Mill and Drake are going after each other’s throats after Meek called out the 6 God out for not writing his own raps. Music streaming rivalries are at an all-time high and we have already seen better music in 2015 than we did in all of 2014.

July is ending and August is here, so you know what that means. Football is back, baby. It is the time of the year when the players show up for training camp and we, the fans, see who was doing two-a-days at the gym and who was doing two-a-days at McDonald’s.

We decided to take a twist on this playlist. Instead of creating something to just jump around to with your teammates before the game, we wanted a solid handful of tracks to listen to before and after the game. A solid selection of songs that will get you excited to hit someone as well as mellowing out after a grueling game. This playlist isn’t for the light-hearted. So, while you’re putting on your helmet be sure to grab the auxiliary cord and put on this playlist. There isn’t anything better than football season.
