That speckled midsole just puts this joint over the top.

With black and pink accents, the “Kay Yow” colorway of the Nike Zoom Soldier 8 follows in the footsteps of the blackout edition earlier this year. A LeBron James sneaker with extensive on-court history? Don’t miss out.

    Nike KD IV "Aunt Pearl"

Still considered Durant’s best signature sneaker — although the KD7 might have something to say about that before it’s all over — the “Aunt Pearl” IV started Durant’s still-continuing tribute to his late aunt. Dropping in May of 2012, the sneaker featured a pink strap with the massive black Nike Swoosh branding. It also had pearl stylizing on the heel and tongue, and the infamous ribbon on the tongue.

    Epic.

While the Aunt Pearl KD V version was mostly white-based — we can’t overlook that 3M detailing, either — the designs on the tongue, inner lining, and Nike Swoosh are incredible.

Dropping in early 2013 to the public, Durant even wore this one on the court against LeBron James. Extra points for that.

    Nike Roshe Run

Of course the Roshe Run had to come complete in a pink outfit. It’s the sneaker MVP of the summer, releasing in dozens and dozens of colorways and in countless different designs. Bring some style to your everyday outfit, whether you’re going for a run, hanging with your boys, or going out to dinner. While it’s often hard to rock pink basketball sneakers, this runner has unparalleled versatility.

    Be brash.

    Nike Hyperdunk 2013 “Kay Yow”

Headlined by Kyrie Irving, last year’s Hyperdunk was a great on-court performer, combining Dynamic Nike Flywire, Hyperfuse construction, and Lunarlon cushioning in a lightweight sneaker. The “Think Pink” edition features black accenting, a white midsole, and the Kay Yow signature ribbon over the heel collar area. If your school had pink colors, there was nothing better in 2013.

Under Armour "Power In Pink" Spine Bionic and Charge BB

Early 2013 marked the release of the “Power In Pink” pack from Under Armour, featuring pinked-out versions of their on-court sneakers, the Spine Bionic and Charge BB.

With metallic silver and white accents throughout, many different high schools and colleges took to the court in these to support Breast Cancer Awareness. We already know UA does pink well through Cam Newton‘s cleats. These two sneakers only reinforce it.

    Nike Air Max Hyperposite

An on-court favorite of Rudy Gay, the Hyperposite might be a little on the heavy side, but it brings with it supreme sneaker tech and comfort for anyone planning on spending a lot of time balling. With a Foamposite upper, this sneaker is built to work well on the court. Don’t miss out this season — cop yourself the pink pair.

  • Nike Kobe 8
    Nike Kobe 8 "Mambacurial"

Kobe’s signature line has dropped a number of pink colorways in support of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, and while this 2013 release is actually only influenced by Bryant’s love of soccer, it is BY FAR the best one. This colorway — with the dark pink gradient and the volt outsole and Swoosh branding — is hard to top.

Ever since Kanye West nearly shut down the industry with the unveiling and eventual surprise release of the Red Octobers, sneakerheads everywhere have formed a fetish for all-red sneakers. That continued earlier this month with the Ferrari suede retro drop of the Air Jordan 14, one of the hottest sneakers of 2014.

This Saturday, we’re not getting dope all-red LeBrons — which cats have been waiting on patiently ever since James debuted the sueded-up LeBron X in all red against OKC a few years ago. But we are getting a pink-based colorway of the new Nike Zoom Soldier 8. This one is dubbed “Kay Yow,” and it will continue Nike‘s longstanding partnership with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Kay Yow was the former head coach of N.C. State before passing away in 2009 from breast cancer.

Pink is an often overlooked colorway among sneakerheads for a very predictable reason: Most sneakerheads are males — with some notable exceptions. It’s as simple as that. I know some cats in the culture that’ll rock a pink sneaker here and there but for the most part, we’re all sticking to tradition.

However, everyone wants to stand out and the one way to do that is to be different. Some will do that by copping dozens of exclusives and high-priced sneakers. Others will gorge on specific signature lines. And still some others will pay tribute to history. Here’s a better/easier option: Just rock a little pink.

With the “Kay Yow” colorway of the Nike Zoom Soldier 8 dropping Saturday at Champs Sports, here are Pink Sneakers That Every Sneakerhead Needs to Own.
