Even though LeBron James will be trying to reach his fifth consecutive NBA Finals this season — how crazy is that? — Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant won’t be playing in the league’s second season. That’s a bummer, considering Bryant is on his last legs and deserves to go out with one last run in the sun. (And he hasn’t played in the playoffs since 2012.) And then Durant is coming off an NBA MVP that he never got the chance to really defend. Either way, the playoffs are going to be amazing, filled with amazing moments and amazing sneakers. Despite the injuries, Nike thankfully kept with tradition and has dropped another in their patented “Elite” Team Series.
To help players take their games to a new level, while featuring direct insight from the three NBA stars involved, this collection features upgraded looks for the Kobe X, KD7, and LeBron 12, three of the best basketball performance sneakers of the year. And all three of them are dropping today at Champs Sports.
As for the technical aspects of the sneakers, the Eric Avar-designed Kobe X features the high ankle support found in the Kobe 9, as well as Nike Flyknit upper construction — the first basketball shoe made from recycled polyester yarn — and dynamic Flywire technology.
The KD7 Elite was designed by Leo Chang to be light, tight, and sleek through a perforated upper that helps with breathability. Along with a Hyperposite upper, dynamic Flywire, and Zoom Air, this shoe also forgoes the mid-foot strap found in the original.
Finally, there’s the LeBron 12 Elite, sporting strong Megafuse construction while adding in new vertical wings for lockdown and stability. With the new hexagonal Zoom Air units on the outsole, this sneaker is great for anyone looking for something with top-level support.
