Nike’s “Summer Nights” Pack for the Huarache and Air Max 90 Is Winning

The “Summer Nights” nickname is appropriate given the explosive colorways and the timing of the latest sneaker pack from Nike. This one features two of the most classic shoes of the past 25 years. They are the Huarache and the Air Max 90, the AM90 coming on the heels of Air Max Day. Recently, many of Nike’s sneaker packs have hit hard, from new “Fade” colorways for the Free Trainer 5.0 to new, multi-colored camo patterns for the Roshe Run. They’ve been great, though probably not as hot as these silhouettes. And today at Champs Sports, both shoes are releasing. Perfect timing.

Both shoes have roots in the early 1990s. The Air Max 90, known for its iconic “Infrared” design, was the third Air Max shoe from legendary designer Tinker Hatfield and when it first released in 1990 was actually known as the Air Max III. Sporting a thicker midsole and a panel on the side of the shoe that actually read “Air Max” — that was a first for this line — this sneaker went on to become perhaps the most popular Air Max sneaker ever made.

On the other side, the Huarache released a year later, taking inspiration from a Native American sandal and coming equipped with the slogan “Have You Hugged Your Feet Today?” The shoe featured some new technology that was truly revolutionary, including a neoprene sock in the upper and a thermoplastic heel strap. Tinker was also the brains behind this one, and his idea of limited branding so as to focus on all the new tech gave the Huarache a unique look. After the success of the original, Nike started releasing the shoe in every avenue.

Cop yourself a piece of history today with either the Air Max 90 or the Huarache…or better yet, get both.
