This is an important year for LeBron James. Despite all he’s accomplished, despite the four MVPs, despite the five straight trips to the NBA Finals, LeBron still has to prove to Cleveland he can bring them a title. And after last season’s heroic postseason performance, including one of the greatest individual Finals runs we’ve ever seen–35.8 points, 13.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists per game–you have to admit there might not be much more the King can do. It’ll probably come down to the supporting cast. Can Kyrie stay healthy? Can Love find his groove? Can the role players make three-pointers?
But one question we’ll never have to ask of James is about his Nike signature sneaker line falling off. That’s because, 13 years in, it’s looking like it’ll go down as the greatest sig collection of this generation.
Releasing today at Champs Sports is the first colorway for the new LeBron 13, dubbed “Written in the Stars,” a shoe that’s looked to build on past models. Included in this year’s design is a big influence of posite around the ankle support and within the lacing area. Also involved is Flywire and the infamous Zoom Air units from the LeBron 12, this time bigger and more dynamic. This shoe promises to showcase personal details derived from LeBron’s life in five key areas on each shoe: tongue top, tongue embellishment, heel tab, Swoosh graphic, and inside heel.
Just like many of the past models from James, the initial skepticism is already turning into love. It happens every year.
The Nike LeBron 13 has arrived in the first of what figures to be many killer colorways. This is a wild sneaker design that has hints of past models in it. Don’t miss out before it’s too late.
