Kobe Bryant‘s career is in trouble. Three straight seasons and three straight season-ending injuries. As someone who has grown up as the world’s biggest Mamba fanatic, I can’t help but get a little hurt by this. Even if he comes back next season, even if he’s right back to where he was in 2012-13, it’ll be hard to see why the basketball gods had to take away so much of his final few seasons. It’s been rough being a Bryant fan.
His sneakers, though? How have they’ve been doing? Glad you asked. They’ve never been better. And now that the Nike Kobe X is finally here, Mamba can reclaim his spot among the league’s sneaker elite.
In this day and age, we’re used to seeing long signature sneaker lines. However, that shouldn’t overshadow how iconic and historic this is. A 10th signature sneaker. That’s big time, and today at Champs Sports you can come along for the ride with the release of the first colorway, the “5 A.M.” This particular colorway takes inspiration from a moment in August of 2013 when Bryant was still recovering from ACL surgery. In a moment of symbolism — overcoming the odds and facing your fears — Bryant jumped off a 40-foot diving platform at 5 a.m. That moment comes to life in this shoe through the blue palette, representing the pool water.
“Innovation drives you to new places,” said Bryant about his new shoe. “The KOBE X combines strong design from the past together into a modern look for the future.”
It’s finally here. The Nike Kobe X Is Finally Set to Drop With the “5 A.M.” Colorway. Don’t miss out.
