The Nike KD7 “Empire State” Is on Another Level

Kevin Durant hasn’t played a minute this season and in turn, his squad is really, really struggling. One thing that isn’t struggling, however, is the Nike KD7. This week, with the holidays and Black Friday on the horizon, Nike is releasing yet another incredible colorway: the “Empire State” edition.

Featuring a Purple/Grey/Turquoise colorway, I’m not sure there’s anyway Nike can top this one. I know I’ve said that previously — the launch colorway was incredible and different and some of the others have been great — but flashing that purple and turquoise is next level. My love of those colors started with the Charlotte Hornets back in the mid-1990s, with Glen Rice and Larry Johnson and Muggsy Bogues and Alonzo Mourning, and it continues even to this day. Of course, the “Empire State” nickname doesn’t have anything to do with Charlotte, which is fine. Durant’s had some incredible moments in New York, as well.

Remember his 66 points at the Rucker? That’s one of the greatest streetball performances in basketball history, especially considering we have footage of it instead of second-hand accounts that are obviously inflated. Durant’s history in the basketball mecca is well-noted and for New York fans, this is a must cop.

Dropping today at Champs Sports, the Nike KD7 “Empire State” is the latest Durant sig to feature direct ties to his longstanding weatherman storyline. There are multiple ways to wear this shoe, considering its mid-cut. But the first step, as always, is actually getting the shoe. Take that step now.
