The New Year is gearing up and even though the winter weather — at least on the East Coast — has been awful, the sneaker releases are still coming strong. Available at Champs Sports is yet another killer colorway, dubbed “Desert Journey.” And with two hot silhouettes getting done up “Desert Journey” style, we can’t help but be excited. Both of these colorways are inspired by this year’s Super Bowl.
First up, with a white/black/blue base, is the Air Trainer Huarache. Long celebrated as one of the greatest sneakers ever made, the Air Trainer Huarache debuted in 1992 as the first trainer to feature the special technology that Tinker Hatfield and Nike created the year prior. In 2015, stripped-down sneakers are all the rage, between the Roshe Run and the adidas Flux, but back in the day people were nervous about it. Nike, in fact, was actually unsure about even releasing the original Huarache. But a strong response from runners at the New York City Marathon changed all of that. It wasn’t long before the shoe vaulted to classic status.
The second shoe to get the “Desert Journey” treatment is the Air Trainer 3, a shoe made famous by legendary athlete Bo Jackson. Originally released in 1989 as the Air Trainer SC, the shoe sports a visible Air unit and is a favorite of sneakerheads everywhere from New York City to London.
On the East Coast, the weather is about as far away from desert conditions as possible. Still, you’ll need these colorways in your rotation no matter where you live, but also especially if you live in the two Super Bowl cities. That’s because Nike’s “Desert Journey” Colorways for the Air Trainer Huarache and Air Trainer 3 Are Amazing.
