No current player in the NBA makes more money off sneaker sales than LeBron James. He’s not quite Michael Jordan. In fact, he probably won’t ever be MJ. But the King is on his own level in 2014, the best player in the world and the most exciting. While everyone knows about his signature line, and the upcoming LeBron 12 looks like it’ll be another hit, we often miss out on the Soldier series.
Currently sporting sneaker technology like Hyperfuse and Flywire, the Soldier series has played a massive part in many of LeBron’s greatest moments. His 48 points against Detroit. His Game 7 duel versus Paul Pierce. His first trip to the NBA Finals. Even last year, with ‘Bron struggling to adjust to the toe fit of his latest signature shoe, James repeatedly turned to the Soldier 7 throughout the regular season.
If you’re a fan of James, there’s no way you can pass up on the Soldier. It’s not a signature shoe, but this is one area where you can argue James has outpaced MJ. Jordan had his Team Jumpman sneakers, and some were undeniable classics — thanks Cincinnati — but none of them had much impact on the court for Michael Jordan. LeBron? He actually wears the Soldier. You should too.
This “Kay Yow” colorway features pink Hyperfuse with black paneling and the mid-foot strap, and is a continuation of Nike‘s seven-year longstanding partnership to honor the former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach. Originally debuted Chicago Sky All-Star Elena Delle Donne earlier this year, it also has a speckled midsole with the pink band Kay Yow logo on the heel.
The sneaker drops this Saturday at Champs Sports and figures to be one of the best pink releases of the entire year. Time to step your game up.
