The time is finally here. The Nike LeBron 12 has finally arrived. No sneaker — and no player — offers the same level of hype and adulation as LeBron James and his signature sneaker line, and while his may never catch the Air Jordan in terms of hype, it is certainly the most popular out in 2014. Since Jason Petrie took over the design of the line with the LeBron VII, we’ve seen James’ sneakers go to a new level. The 12 is no different, building and improving on the tech, build, and feel of the LeBron 11.
The improvement that stands out the most is definitely the five visible, hexagonally-shaped Nike Zoom Air bags on the outsole. Nike Zoom Air has been bringing great cushioning and support to basketball for nearly 20 years now, but this added benefit will adjust the shoe to help support the basketball player in the most important places. Add in Dynamic Flywire cables, Hyperposite wings on the upper, as well as a breathable Megafuse upper and this shoe should feel like a second skin.
The improvements in this year’s sneaker all came through the influence of Nike’s Sport Research Lab, the perfect place for designing the sneaker of the world’s most incredible athlete. LeBron does things no one else can even dream about. It’s time his sneaker acts the same way.
This particular colorway was rumored to have been designed as a Miami Heat colorway, since James did not return to Cleveland until midway through this summer. As it is, it still plays heavily off of LeBron’s logo and his affinity for lions.
Nike has already announced the stories and release dates behind the sneaker’s first seven colorways, and it’ll all start today with the “Heart of a Lion.” For those of you who aren’t quite sure where to cop, don’t worry. Champs Sports has you covered.
