Kobe Bryant has been better than anyone could have anticipated this season. Coming off two major injuries, having played more minutes than just about any guard in NBA history at age 36, ESPN famously (and idiotically) ranked him No. 40 on their annual #ESPNRank survey. Bryant responded by turning up the heat, going for 99 points in the season’s first four games.
The Lakers might be 3-9, but at least we know the Mamba isn’t going to fall off some cliff just yet.
Part of the fun of seeing KB back on the court is checking out his kicks. The dude always brings the heat. For Kobe, he’s not about crazy colorways or wild inspirations. He’s about playing it smooth — his best sneakers are always the ones that perfectly accentuate the Lakers’ purple and gold. However, one of the cool aspects about the current sneaker culture is that we often get shoes that the player will never wear on the court. Today’s Nike Kobe 9 EM release at Champs Sports is a perfect example of that.
Sporting a sick Gym Blue/Obsidian-Varsity Gold colorway, this shoe features a blue-based upper with a speckled midsole, a gold outsole, and gold accenting on the Nike swoosh, lacing, and tongue. It has to be considered one of the best shoes of the season. Bryant’s line is known for having extremely low-cut sneakers that are killer on the court. The Kobe 9 EM is no different and has to be considered one of the best editions of the line so far, considering how many opposing players embrace the silhouette. (That must be fun for Kobe. When Klay Thompson was lighting the Lakers up for 41 points recently, all Kobe had to say was, “Dude, look whose shoes you got on.”)
Cop yours today, here just in time for the start of high school basketball.
