The Nike Air Max Plus Is Returning in Classic Colors

The Nike Air Max line has a long and impressive history since its birth in 1987, featuring it’s controversial – now signature – Air cushioning midsole. At that time it was hard to put trust in a shoe to provide high performance results with a hole going through it. As bizarre as it might have seemed, the Air cushioning technology and Air Max line – created by Tinker Hatfield and Mark Parker – pushed performance sneakers to new heights.

A little over a decade later, the Nike Air Max Plus — aka AMP — was introduced in 1998. Not only was it the beginning of a new Air Max model, but also the debut of the Nike Tuned Air System. The Nike Tuned Air System features two opposing polymer hemispheres that rebound against each other to absorb shock. Sadly, the Air system and the Air Max Plus didn’t reach a large audience in the States and became overshadowed by the Nike Shox dynasty.

The Air Max Plus – a forgotten favorite – has seen over 100 colorways throughout its history and a few that broke into the sneakerhead culture. This upcoming colorway is one of the model’s boldest and fiercest renditions, and we are excited to say that Nike is giving them a dope treatment for 2015. The new year is already promising for the Air Max family, and this retro drop is the icing on the cake. Make sure to add the Nike Air Max Plus to your repertoire now that they’re available at Champs Sports.
