If you’ve been following The Drop at all over the past few months, then you can probably guess which sneakers get me hyped and which ones I’ll pass on. The thing is, there’s nothing better than shoes that have the versatility to wear at any time of the year and with either pants or shorts. The newest release at Champs Sports — the Air Jordan XIII “Grey Toe” — is just that and it succeeds where many others haven’t.
I’ve always been of the opinion that white sneakers have to be extra fly to work, whereas black-based joints can almost always come across looking ill. These XIIIs make it work, however, and then some. The white, red, and grey colorway is no joke, and the red is used just sparingly enough that it makes the shoe pop. The red shows up along the suede and midsole while the toebox, laces, and tongue are all grey. The rest is white.
This colorway was originally released nearly a decade ago — I still remember seeing them in stores — and so it’ll certainly have a certain appeal to long-time fans of the series. So far this year, the XIII has been making a big comeback in the market, especially the recent “Baron” colorway, but this one might be the best yet.
The Air Jordan XIII features one of the coolest inspirations of any Jordan sneaker so far and while it’s always been known for looking dope in black colorways, this “Cement Grey” edition is a must-cop for any legit sneaker lover. Don’t miss it this weekend.
