I remember the days of watching Kobe Bryant light teams up for 81 points, for 50 points in four straight games, for 62 points in three quarters. It was incredible. It’s something I’ll never forget, and in those instances when he’d heat the oven up, any experienced viewer could see it coming. It was almost like a storm, drifting dark over the horizon, blocking out the sun until all you could see were the buckets.
Kevin Durant‘s latest upcoming Nike KD7 colorway — called “Calm Before the Storm” — alludes to this storm, but the difference with Durant is that the man is never off. He’s always storming. He’s probably the most consistently efficient scorer of the last two decades, and yet still has room to grow. Today, this grey-based, pink-accented KD7 sneaker drops at Champs Sports. The colors are influenced by the coming of a storm, especially the lightning and the brooding clouds. Once again, in tradition, it’ll continue the longstanding weatherman theme that’s been present in all of Durant’s signature shoes, and will include all of the technology touches of the original KD7 release: the forefoot strap, Nike Flywire and Nike Zoom in the front of the sneaker, along with Hyperposite tech and the visible Nike Zoom Air bag.
With August halfway over, Durant will be raining buckets soon enough. Make sure you’re equipped to deal with the storm.
