Robert Griffin III is ready to take back what’s rightfully his. After a subpar 2013 season that saw him still not fully recovered from a devastating knee injury, RGIII is back to his old tricks again this summer. Add in an upgraded receiving corps — hello DeSean Jackson — and RGIII is set to blow up again.
Into that steps his signature shoe, the adidas RG3 Boost Trainer. Sporting new Boost technology and a lightweight, mid-cut frame with a completely SPRINTWEB upper, the shoe has a full-length TECHFIT liner to wrap the foot like a sock, and offers supreme change-of-pace support. As RGIII’s trainer, it surely needs it.
Today, three colorways are coming to Champs Sports, including the traditional all-white and all-black pairs that’ll work with any outfit. But the standout is the Copperas Cove High School edition, which the Washington quarterback presented to his alma mater earlier this summer. Sky blue-based, with accents and an outsole laced with a volt colorway, the trainer will having you standing out wherever you’re working out.
Also dropping will be an all-white “No Diamonds” version of the trainer, which will feature a light-grey splashed design on the mid-foot strap. Not only will this shoe be able to withstand the constant pounding that comes from training to get ready for football season, it also sports a unique versatility. As an all-white shoe, you can wear it with basically anything. Or you could mimic RG3 himself, who told me in July that he always trains in this colorway.
Finally, there’s the traditional all-black colorway, dubbed “No Pressure.” Most will say RG3 has a ton of pressure on his shoulders because he’s attempting to make it back to his rightful place atop the next generation of NFL stars. But if you’ve seen this guy work, you know he probably doesn’t feel any of that. When you work as hard as he does, you never feel it. Embrace his confidence by rocking an all-black version of the trainer, perfect for all those long nights in the gym or out on the field.
