Cars and sneakers have played off each other before. Think about how many Air Jordans took their inspiration from Michael Jordan‘s fleet of rides. The Air Jordan XIV did it most famously, mimicking the Ferrari across that particular sneaker’s design, all the way down to the shape of the Jumpman logo. It doesn’t stop there.
Over the past 20 years, as more and more sneakers attempt to cross over into high-end fashion and streetwear culture, brands have started pushing the shoes as luxurious silos meant to take your game to another level. A dope pair of sneakers symbolizes something about your status. You aren’t just a sneakerhead. You are stylish and tasteful. It’s the same way with cars; people who buy, or even collect luxury sports cars often do it for the same reasons you and I hit the mall on Saturdays for that latest retro release.
Continuing that legacy is the newest release from famed sportswear brand Mizuno. Dubbed the Wave Tenjin, the shoe is actually inspired by the Lamborghini and is the brand’s attempt to play within the lifestyle field. It’s a smart move. Go on any legitimate sneakerhead Instagram page and you’ll see that EVERYONE is using kicks as lifestyle pieces in 2015. The shoes will include the Lambo branding throughout and are available in four separate colorways: a classic black with gold accenting; a blood red version with mint green accents; the same colorway flipped; and finally, a white version with red lacing and mint green accenting.
The multi-year partnership will include an apparel collection as well.
Available now at Champs Sports, the new Mizuno line is your chance to floss on your friends, all while getting envious WHAT ARE THOOOOSE?! from everyone you pass on the street.
