It’s really sort of messed up, don’t you think, how much the weather dictates our mood? Like, if the sun is dripping heat and the pavement feels like a microwave, you can’t ever be in a bad mood. It’s almost a rule, and that’s doubly true for sneakerheads.
Waking up in the middle of January when you can feel your nose running and you’re all bundled up in about six layers of clothes and even your jeans are getting salt stains on them…yeah, forget that. That’ll leave any self-respecting sneaker lover in a foul mood. But, like clockwork, once we hit March and then April, and then May and June, you feel like a new person and those heat wave days suddenly have you out copping new kicks every week because you feel like you have to stunt around the city and all over the ‘gram.
It’s like a disease, and even as style trends are constantly changing, the fact that we even have spring and summer style trends shows you all you need to know about the culture. I grew up obsessed with basketball — obsessed — and so I was constantly rocking the sneakers that I saw my favorite players wearing on TV. The Reebok Kamikaze II. The Pennys. The Barkleys. The TMacs. I even remember buying the X-Beams simply because Steve Francis wore them.
But now I feel almost out of touch, considering how so many cats are changing up the game with more of an interest in lifestyle shoes, silhouettes that are stripped down to the bare essentials, one-piece uppers that allow for maximum creativity. This is where we are in 2015 and this summer you’re going to see more of that than ever before.
Champs Sports has the hookup right now, so get educated and get your rotation straight before it’s too late. Here are the Lifestyle Sneakers You Absolutely Need in Your Rotation This Summer.
