Kevin Durant first said it during an interview with Sports Illustrated back in the spring of 2013, during the tail end of another fabulous campaign. It bears repeating now: Kevin Durant isn’t satisfied with second place.
As he comes back off injury to start this new season, everything is shaping up for Durant to take the next step and potentially prove himself as the game’s best player. He’s been so close for so long that I think people have started to take his greatness for granted.
One area that Durant is almost already at the apex in is sneakers. His line has been steadily growing over the past few years, topping out at $195 million in 2014 for Nike. Now with the Nike KD 8 dropping in a number of dope colorways, we could see that number rise this year.
The latest colorway available at Champs Sports comes just a few weeks before the start of the NBA season. Nicknamed “Easy Euro,” this silhouette comes correct with a mix of grey, alligator green, and bright citrus along the sole. It’s rumored to honor his fans from across the pond in Europe, where Durant went on a tour to Madrid, Paris, and Berlin this summer. The colors also match the Europe currency. I’d never thought I’d say this about a shoe mimicking money, but the colorway is dope.
The shoe, which features a Flyweave upper and an articulated full-length Zoom Air unit, both firsts in a Nike Basketball sneaker, is the perfect versatile option for the ballplayer this season.
