Kevin Durant had a quiet year last season. He missed most of the year with various foot problems and he barely played in his signature Nike KD7. Despite all of that, and even with the Thunder missing the playoffs completely, Durant’s shoe was a hit. From the colorways to the execution to the weatherman theme that bobbed and weaved its way throughout each release, the sneaker was just about everything you look for in a modern day signature silhouette. And knowing all of that made it all the more interesting why Leo Chang and the rest of the Nike designers decided to switch the entire look of the shoe for the KD 8.
Durant is perhaps the NBA’s lone signature superstar who actually enjoys changing up the look of his shoe each year, as compared to players like LeBron and Kobe, who view each new release as a way to build and evolve off of the last one. This thinking has led to Durant having one of the most relevant lines around, and it’s only growing bigger.
The Nike KD 8 is finally here and ready to dominate another summer and this colorway is surely going to be a hit for both Durant and the masses.
