So the low-top version of the adidas Yeezy Boost is finally dropping. Kanye West‘s latest signature sneaker is going to kill the summer this year. No doubt about it. Available now at Champs Sports, the Yeezy Boost 350 is fitted with the same sole as the original and is coming in a grey-stoned colorway.
You have to respect West’s approach to fashion and style. Remember when his sneaker and clothing line with adidas was officially launched during NBA All-Star Weekend in New York City this year? NBA players might’ve been loving it–Atlanta’s All-Star Jeff Teague even said he was going to wear the shoe on-court at some point–but the majority of America couldn’t understand why he was promoting something so simplistic as a game-changing move. Social media, in fact, blew up with memes, tweets, and Vines that had even the biggest ‘Ye stans losing their minds.
However, West was smart not only because he understands that getting people talking is the biggest marketing tool of all but he also recognized where the sneaker industry was trending. People want stripped-down silhouettes and simplistic uppers nowadays, shoes that they can wear with virtually anything. The low-top version of Kanye’s first signature with adidas might actually capture this particular aspect better than the original. The first Yeezy Boost is difficult to wear in certain situations just because of the design. But this shoe feels a lot like the Roshe Run–one of the most important lifestyle sneakers ever made–and that can only be a plus.
If you missed out on the initial release of West’s new sneaker, now’s your chance to cop the Yeezy Boost 350. Don’t sleep.
