With the Wizards ramping up their mission to break through the clutter in the Eastern Conference, John Wall is back for a second go-round with his new signature sneaker, the adidas J Wall 2. This shoe, which first dropped in two team-related colorways earlier this season, is coming off a year that saw the debut of the J Wall 1 by adidas, along with Damian Lillard‘s new signature. And now just as Wall is attempting to break through superstar status and into that club where only the biggest icons go–players like LeBron, Westbrook, Curry–the next version of the J Wall 2 is dropping at Champs Sports.
Complete in a wild maroon makeup that should be familiar to all Redskins fans, the shoe will feature a Quickframe upper with full-length adiprene+ cushioning, as well as a flex groove down the center of the traction pattern. That same pattern also contains messages that center around Wall’s life, a life that saw him go from wild child to average high school nobody to breakout high school star to Kentucky to the NBA in just a few years. Look closely enough and you’ll see Raleigh and 919, which are both callouts to his hometown roots. There’s also a message for his mother, always the rock in his life.
John Wall is now an NBA superstar tasked with bringing a title back to the nation’s capital, and his latest sneaker with adidas is also trying to help him take the next leap as an individual. Superstar status is fun. You know what’s better? Icon status.
