The “Infrared” Air Jordan VI is coming back. Are you ready?
Every young kid growing up has certain sneakers they’re asking for year in and year out, but this one is special. I can’t think of a single sneaker lover — anywhere in the country — who doesn’t want this shoe. A Michael Jordan classic. The shoe that he won his first championship in. A “bred” colorway. A Jordan Brand OG icon. Again, I ask, are you ready?
Even the old school fiends are going to be happy with this release. The shoe is coming back true to form, with the all-nubuck upper and the red lace-looks and red splashes across the Jumpman logo and the midsole. Long considered one of MJ’s most important sneakers, and definitely one of the best bred colorways we’ve ever seen, the VI was actually inspired by the Porsche. The heel tab is a distinctive nod to that. It also serves a purpose. Jordan was having a tough time getting in and out of his shoes before this, so he reached out to Nike and asked for a remedy.
More than a handful of Mike’s shoes have their roots in car design, and Tinker Hatfield actually started out designing retail spaces. All of that came together on this release to create something that still sells out immediately nearly 25 years after it first debuted.
On Black Friday, this shoe will be dropping at Champs Sports, so forget the electronics, the TVs, the gifts. Head to the sneaker spot and cop because this’ll be gone before just about anything else.
