If you consider yourself any type of real sneakerhead, you probably know about the things Michael Jordan did in the Air Jordan VI. He won his first title in them. He won the league MVP. He finally beat the Bad Boys. And he starred in some more awesome Mars Blackmon sneaker commercials in them.
But did you also know the VI was the first Jordan to be retroed for the Olympics? Or that Jordan suffered an injury in the 1991 NBA Finals and team doctors asked if he wanted to switch shoes and Mike refused? That’s how much MJ loved these joints; he literally said “give me the pain” rather than rock something else.
While the Infrared VI is one of the most legendary sneaker silhouettes ever, it’s not what’s dropping today at Champs Sports. Today, you can flip the script on history with a low-top version that has been dubbed the “Infrared 23” and, amazingly, the team at Jordan Brand took it one step further by trading in the traditional black base for white.
While this newest release takes us back in time to the vaunted originals, it’s actually probably much more closely related to last year’s release of the all-Infrared upper Jordan VI. That one was actually on par with the mid-cut of the original, and the color scheme was a direct flip of what we’re seeing now.
Every summer, we get some dope low-cut Air Jordans. This month, don’t miss out on the chance to take your swag to the next level.
