Ever since the “35K” colorway first dropped last summer, the Nike KD7 has been advancing Kevin Durant‘s longtime love of meteorology and the weather through one dope inspiration after another. We’ve seen one shoe get inspired by lightning in the Empire State. We’ve seen another get inspired by Benjamin Franklin, the man who invented the lightning rod. We’ve even seen inspiration come from the “calm before the storm.” The biggest thing that all of these colorways have in common? Nike continues to up the ante with each new release.
The latest colorway, releasing today at Champs Sports, is the “Electric Eel,” a shoe that features hints of flash lime — which was also rumored as a possible nickname at one point — ocean blue on the outsole and inner lining, and metallic pewter on both the upper and Hyperposite. The Hyperposite is actually the part of the shoe that stands out the most through a quake-type graphic pattern that wraps around the sneaker’s heels.
At this point, if you’ve missed out on all of the KD releases, we feel bad for you. It’s been one of the most consistent sneakers of the year, despite the fact that Durant has barely used them. While he rehabs and returns from his foot injuries this year, he’s been spending most of his time in the KD VI simply because its structure fits better with the supports he must use. Nike, meanwhile, expects to have an updated KD7 out very soon.
For you, none of that really matters. All you need to know is that the Nike KD7 hasn’t missed yet with a colorway.
