    Fit 1: Tan jacket, graffiti background

    “So for this picture, it was actually all about the graffiti. I thought it looked so dope. All the different colors really stand out on that wall. Problem was that it’s in an alley and it’s somewhat of a sketchy spot. There’s always people around too. So one day I was driving by and I saw no one there, I had my camera with me, no tripod though. So I actually set my camera on a concrete cinder block that was in the alley. That’s why the picture is shot from such a low angle. I only took two pictures and one worked out thankfully!”

    Fit 2: Striped grey/black Tee, turquoise monochrome Suedes

    “Any day that I can rock my Suede Mid ‘Bluebirds’ is a good day! (Laughs) Man, as you know I’m so hyped on this shoe. Only $60 and it’s one of my favorites. For this fit the shoes do all the talking, I just tried to rock something subtle with it. The key to pulling off ‘loud’ sneakers is to not rock anything else too flashy with them. I think if I rocked an aqua blue hat or jacket with these it would be straight overkill, and I’d look goofy. (Laughs) The bright color pop is a cool look if there’s only a little of it.”

    Fit 3: White shirt, yellow Suedes

    “Yellow is a really tough color to pull off, so you don’t see too many people wearing yellow sneakers, which is why I like these yellow Suedes so much. I get a lot of ‘nice shoes’ when I rock these. So because they aren’t a shoe color you see too often I wanted them to be the first thing noticed in the picture. So I thought a staircase picture would be perfect. The all-grey stairs let the yellow tone of the sneakers really stand out. And I honestly didn’t know how the picture would turn out. I had my camera set up across the street and fully zoomed in. It was in front of a business so I wanted to get the picture and be out! I went for it, and it turned out to be one of the better pictures on my IG feed.”

    @eddiewinkicks

    Fit 4: Grey shirt, black PUMA Blaze of Glory with red and blue

    “This is kind of a funky photo, not usually my style. I was recording a YouTube video for the PUMA x Alife collaboration. PUMA sent them over a little early and I was really hyped on them. They’re a mostly black shoe, so it’s kind of hard to show details in a full outfit shot. But I really wanted them to be the focal point of the shot so I just stuck my leg out like ‘Look at these joints!’ (Laughs) It’s really a dope shoe, one of my favorite Blaze of Glorys this year. I also really like the shirt; it’s a collab as well from the John Elliott x GQ x Gap collection. It’s not too often you see a standard button-up shirt with pockets like that. So I like that you could see that detail in the pic as well.”

    Fit 5: All-black with red PUMA Suedes

    “Similar deal here as with the yellow Suedes and the Bluebirds. I really like wearing Suedes with a bright color pop and then subtle basic clothing. By wearing all-black the red shoes have extra pop here. Whenever I’m in a rush and just want to throw something on quick, I’ll rock an outfit like this. Some comfortable jogger sweats, a lightweight mesh shirt, and these Suedes. It’s super easy to throw on all-black, and then from there you can wear any shoes you want. This day I went with the ice red Suedes.”

  • eddiewinkicks PUMA Ronnie Fieg Sakura Mid

    @eddiewinkicks

    Fit 6: All navy, tan long jacket, Ronnie Fieg R698 Sakura Mids

    “This was an awesome day. I had just got these Ronnie Fieg PUMAs in. Man, they are amazing; both sneakers from the pack are some of Ronnie’s best work, in my opinion. I had a chance to get a YouTube video up before the sneakers actually released in the US, which is a really rare opportunity for a Ronnie Fieg shoe. So I started off taking photos at the warehouse with graffiti on the doors. I think the spot looks rad, and the red on the doors/bricks matches the shoes in a cool way. I like to mix casual comfortable clothes with dressy menswear stuff so that’s what I did here. Full sweatsuit and a jacket you would normally wear with a button-down shirt. I think it’s a unique look to mix up the two, and it worked here for sure. I had some great feedback on the picture and the YouTube video.”

    Fit 7: Madison Square Garden

    “I like this photo a lot. It reminds me of an awesome weekend in NYC. PUMA invited me out for an event taking place over All-Star Weekend. The entire time I was there was a blast. Got to turn up in the city and meet a bunch of people I had never had an opportunity to link up with before. NYC is dope, man. I need to go there more. So the photo was actually taken on an iPhone by my brother. He lives right outside NYC so I was kicking it with him the entire weekend. I was just about to hop on the train to head home and he’s like, ‘Let’s take a quick picture right here, it’ll look cool with MSG in the background,’ and he was right. What up, Nick!”

    Fit 8: Gold PUMAs, maroon hoodie, black linen jacket, light jeans

    “So I’m actually surprised this picture turned out good. (Laughs) Believe it or not, I’m actually pretty bad at using my camera. When I first bought it, I had no clue how it worked. Normally, I had just used my iPhone but I wanted to step it up a little bit. So I was eager to capture some motion shots; they typically look a little better than just standing there. After messing around with my camera for a little while I figured out how to snap some good motion shots in manual mode. So this was one of my first pictures I was actually hyped on. I was equally as hyped on the gold PUMAs, a collab with Meek Mill. When the sun hits that gold detailing, it looks really dope. And to be honest, I had just got everything I was wearing in that photo on the same day. So I kinda just threw everything on and I actually like how it looked all together. I dig that jacket a lot, it’s from HUF. I like how it also shines in the sun a little bit.”

    Fit 9: White hoodie, white/red Ronnie Fieg R698 Sakura

    “First off, not sure why I’m mean muggin’ so bad, but I am. (Laughs) I took the picture when I was making my ‘fall look book.’ It’s the best video I’ve ever put out. This was the last fit in the video. The PUMAs are a deep red and off white. It was hard to find something to go with them. A lot of people don’t like wearing lighter tones in the fall for some weird reason. I think you can rock whatever, whenever, as long as it looks good. A little white after Labor Day never hurt anyone.” (Laughs)

    Fit 10: Bright neon R698s, root beer

    “This was one of the rare situations when I had a lot of people around when I was taking a picture. We were all BBQing and one of my homies snapped the pic for me. These sneakers are the loudest kicks in my collection. They’re more of a situational sneaker. It was a summer BBQ with some good people so I decided to throw on some fun kicks. And again with the all-black and loud sneakers makes them pop like crazy! The food and root beer was great that day as well. Kinda depressing looking back at it because it’s about to be winter!”

There is a lot more to being a sneakerhead than collecting sneakers. One thing that’s important is learning how to style a complete outfit around your kicks. When we spoke to NBA stylist Megan Ann Wilson last month, she broke down the principles of creating a perfect streetwear look for the modern sneakerhead.

Influencer Eddie Win, he of @EddieWinKicks, is someone else who knows a thing or two about putting together outfits around his sneakers. His Instagram is a masterclass at taking a hot pair of shoes and complementing them with a hot fit. One of his favorite brands, interestingly, is PUMA. I think we can all agree that PUMA is having a great 2015. The brand made a lot of noise this year in the apparel game with some dope collaborations and celebrity partnerships.

Win has been a fan of the brand for a long time, so we can rely on him for some style tips when it comes to building a solid fit. Everyone is rocking Jordans these days; not as many know how to pull off PUMA.

“For starters, I’m not some crazy person that takes what they’re wearing too serious,” he says with a laugh. “Everything doesn’t have to be perfect, but I do take pride in how I present myself, because you never know who you’ll bump into. I take the extra couple minutes to make sure what I’m throwing on is presentable, and looks good.”
