Bo Jackson was named the greatest athlete of all time by ESPN and for good reason. He not only tore up the gridiron in the NFL, but was also baseball gold. He won the Heisman trophy while attending Auburn and he is the only athlete to be named an All-Star in two major American sports. All in all, Bo Jackson is the G.O.A.T. of American sports simply because he basically reached the pinnacle of two different sports. His greatest athletic accomplishments read like something out of a video game.
Bo was known for sporting Nike kicks, so it was only a matter of time before they would both team up for a sneaker deal. Back in his playing days, the “Bo Knows” campaign was gold. In 1988, Nike started dropping limited collections of trainers with Jackson. They often featured three colorways: the “Bo Knows” Trainer I, Trainer 91, and “Medicine Ball” Trainer III. The “Medicine Ball” colorway made its impact on pop-culture when Spike Lee rocked the Trainer IIIs in his classic movie Do The Right Thing. The collection has been retroed several times, most recently back in 2009. The Nike Dunk was also given the Bo treatment in a limited release in ’07, and the Nike Air Trainer 3 and Air Trainer 360 2 were given the “Medicine Ball” colorway this past year.
In 2015, Nike is gearing up to drop another dope colorway under the dual-athlete’s name. This one is called the College Football Playoffs Air Bo 1 Premium. The colorway will be laced with Wolf Grey/Black/Aqua. These sneakers are set to drop on Saturday and you can grab a pair at Champ Sports.
