When it comes to sports analyst personalities, you have the annoying ones like Skip Bayless, the reckless ones like Stephen A. Smith, and even the inherently funny ones like Charles Barkley. But then reigning over everyone else like the swag lord that he is is ESPN’s Jay Bilas. When it comes to processing how to be the man at 50 years old, no one does it better. I’m convinced he’d be the greatest uncle in world history. The dude posts the illest tweets, memorably showing love to Young Jeezy on a daily occurrence. He holds it down in the studio, knows what he’s talking about, and doesn’t ever say anything outlandish or radical. He has a history in sports, and played ball with some of the greatest players of my generation, meaning that he’s got to have some wild stories to tell. And last but certainly not least, the guy has a fantastic sneaker collection.
There are plenty of celebrities out there with sick sneaker closets. But for those of us who don’t reap the benefits of stardom, it’s more difficult. Entire paychecks need to be spent to keep up with the Joneses. Bilas sits somewhere in-between, as a man who doesn’t show his feet too often on television but is nonetheless very recognizable to the average basketball fan.
For some self-appointed 40th anniversary celebration, the Bilastrator has been tweeting one pair of sneakers from his closet every day over the past few weeks. The stash is impressive by any metric and we can’t help but be jealous. If we still have a sneaker game as lit as this when we’re 51, life will be good.
In the end, it’s not hard to see that Jay Bilas Has a Better Sneaker Collection Than You.
