There’s no question that the Air Jordan IV is one of Michael Jordan‘s best sneakers ever. It built on the technology and aesthetics that Tinker Hatfield and Nike introduced with the iconic Air Jordan III, including the added ankle straps that helped push Jordan to the best season of his career.
Not only did Jordan hit “The Shot” over Craig Ehlo and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs, advancing Chicago to the second round, he also hit for 32.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.0 assists per game during the regular season. It was his finest all-around season ever.
Inspired by Jordan’s will, determination, and hard work, the shoe was almost a counterpoint to the last two Air Jordans, both of which focused on luxury and animal-print skin. But during the lifeblood of this shoe, Jordan was not only working on his body so that he could overcome the Pistons and the rest of the East, he had also become a father. All of that amounted to enough inspiration to get Tinker to work on the shoe’s basics and figure out ways to make it the best basketball shoe on the planet.
The sneaker first released to great fanfare WAY back in 1989 and now in 2015, it’s returning in a remastered form from Jordan Brand. This weekend, a classic “Columbia” colorway is coming from JB — now called the “Legend Blue” — and will be dropping at Champs Sports. To get yourself ready for one of the biggest drops of what’s looking like a great 2015, remind yourself of how dope the IV looks on-foot. Here are some Amazing Instagram Images of the Air Jordan 4.
