In middle school, I took a wall of my bedroom and turned it into a basketball shrine. SLAM Ups. Magazine covers. Framed drawings. But at the center of all of it was a Michael Jordan poster dubbed “The Master.” Sporting mostly black and white hues, along with a little bit of gold, the poster took on a life of its own and, in somewhat similar fashion to what Jordan Brand did with the commercial that inspired a recent Air Jordan VII retro, we’re getting a sneaker to commemorate that.
JB took the classic colors and incorporated them into a new colorway for the Air Jordan XII, the sneaker MJ was wearing in the poster. The shoes look incredible in-person, and have a look about them that is almost OVO-like with the black leather base, and hits of gold and white on the detailing and branding.
The XII was the sneaker Jordan wore during his fifth championship run. It was also the first of his line to feature Zoom Air. He rocked the Black/Red version during his famous “Flu Game” against the Jazz in the NBA Finals, scoring 38 points in what became a seminal moment in his sneaker legacy.
Available this Saturday at Champs Sports, the “Master” edition for the iconic Air Jordan XII is going to be one of the hottest releases of this month and, potentially, one of the better Jordan retros this year.
