First introduced last year during NBA All-Star Weekend in New York City, adidas took inspiration from one particular snake to help create a memorable XENO reflective collection. The scales of that snake, the Xenopeltis snake found in Southeast Asia, were almost perfectly mimicked throughout the collection. That was particularly true with the Flux, where the shoe’s upper resembled reflective scales whenever the light hit it just right. As we move toward the turn of another calendar year, the Three-Stripes is going back to the well again, but this time they’re taking it one step further with three new multicolor reflective looks.
Available this Friday at Champs Sports are three different new versions of the Flux in this new “Negative Pack,” which include gradient color saturations across the uppers. Utilizing different shades of blue, teal, green, and red, the “Negative Pack” adds a little personality to a line that originally sported more simple black and grey silhouettes.
The Flux has quickly become one of the game’s most popular silhouettes mostly because it is so versatile. That aspect shines through here; no matter what other adidas shoes end up incorporating this reflective design, nothing will ever look as good as this.
As adidas continues to push its athleisure products, I highly doubt the XENO look is going anywhere anytime soon. After it took the sneaker world by storm earlier this year, it was only a matter of time before we got new XENO designs. It’s safe to say this collection delivered the heat.
