Pharrell’s omnipresence in the world of art and fashion could easily translate to oversaturation but in the same way he keeps the elixir of life to himself, he manages a way to keep every new project he’s been involved with fresh.
Fresh off his candy-flavored “Supercolor” collection with adidas Originals that warmed the hearts of sneakerheads and fun folks everywhere, he’s back this time to reinterpret the classic Superstar in a new light with this new Sculpted Collection. This time, he brought the creative visions of his most talented friends aboard and allowed their unique visions to sit atop the famed Shelltoe of the 3-Stripes classic, a shoe that’s been around for generations, first as a performance sneaker and now as a fashion piece.
A style icon in his own right, Pharrell says of these creatives–which include photographer Cass Bird, Japanese artist/wizard Mr., world renown architect Zaha Hadid, and artist Todd James–that “there are certain people that usher in the differences and the changes and those are the people I consider to be icons.”
Cass Bird offered her idea of beauty, Mr. elaborated on innocence, Zaha Hadid used the dimensions of the shoe to “cast shadows that weren’t necessarily there,” and Todd James’ abstract shapes and figures on the Shelltoe lends to feelings that can’t be depicted in words according the culture maestro Pharrell himself.
The sneakers come in a canvas of white and black (respectively) and all are marked with the expression of said artists coupled with Pharrell’s reflexology-inspired graphic on the insole. Available at Champs Sports, they are all interchangeable with each other, meaning this is the ultimate stage for the creative mind. Check them out.
