When the adidas SL Loop Runner dropped early last summer, it wasn’t like fans were calling it an immediate classic. But it was a dope lifestyle sneaker that took its influence from the SL 72 used during the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. It featured the iconic adidas T-toe, a sculpted midsole, a lightweight upper, and an flashy finish that made it a perfect shoe to wear with joggers.
Over time, we all obsessed over the Tubular line, the Flux, the Y-3 joints, and adidas Originals vaulted into an esteemed position among sneakerheads, particularly on Instagram. But, in the end, you can’t forget about the SL Loop Runner. It was stylish, unique, and had a strong historical tie to keep it grounded.
This year, adidas isn’t staying put. In fact, they’re upgrading it. Now available at Champs Sports is the adidas SL Loop Runner Quilted, which features leather overlays along the upper contrasted by a quilted look. The new style gives the shoe a harder look and feel, and, at least with the opening colorways, drops the wild look of the previous model for something more subtle. As we move into the fall and all sneakerheads start turning in their shorts for pants, joggers, and jeans, these are an affordable option with the ability to work in any setting, a diverse option for the kid looking for something that stunts on IG while looking good at dinner, too.
Building off of a previous model, the adidas SL Loop Runner Quilted is yet another fantastic lifestyle release from the 3-Stripes. Cop now or miss out.
