You can argue Kanye West‘s presence has completely changed the game for adidas. Yeezus unveiled his first sneaker and collection with the 3-Stripes during NBA All-Star Weekend–as well as New York Fashion Week–and the ensuing hype had many in the business admitting the brand “won” one of the most important sneakerhead weekends of the year.
And while the immediate brand upgrades are noticeable, ‘Ye is already strongly affecting the future. The latest example is the Tubular X from adidas Originals. It’s a new take on the Tubular, which surprised many as one of the best lifestyle silhouettes over the past year. The Tubular X, not coincidentally, looks VERY similar to the original Yeezy 750 Boost, changing up its own form by ditching the low cut of the last model and going for something super high.
By incorporating x-shaped rear paneling, a woven textile upper, and a circular-knit upper that’s extremely flexible, the Tubular X is already gaining a strong following among Instagram sneaker influencers; it’s a safe bet to say this one will be one of the most gassed-up shoes for Back to School. Already available at Champs Sports in black, red, and a deep blue, this shoe’s popularity stems from its versatility. The silhouette just works, and it looks phenomenal when teamed with a crisp pair of joggers.
The adidas Originals Tubular X is one of the best lifestyle sneakers to hit just in time for Back to School, even if it does, admittedly, look a lot like the adidas Yeezy 750 Boost. In this case, that’s definitely not a bad thing.
