Many classic sneaker silhouettes look best in dull colors. Even as cats like Kanye West blow up the game with all-red sneakers, in the end it’s impossible to top shoes like the Air Jordan XI or the Nike Air Force 1. Yeah, they released with crazy colorways from time to time over the years, but they never looked as good as they did when outfitted with blacks and greys and whites. They standout because they let the rest of you do the talking.
The Nike Air Max Plus is a completely different beast.
When it first dropped in 1998, the shoe was one of Nike‘s first attempts at merging sports and fashion within the Nike Air Max line. Before that, many of the trainers that dropped which sported this groundbreaking technology were still aimed at a crowd ready to run and walk in them. However, over the years the shoes morphed into something completely different. They became a lifestyle product. The Nike Air Max Plus is the baby of that movement.
The sneaker sported all of the latest technology — a Tuned Air unit in the heel for cushioning; patent leather accents on a light synthetic mesh upper; and a rubber outsole — but it was the gradient colorways that had people excited.
With a new colorway set to drop at Champs Sports, one that pays homage to an old classic with a yellow-striped canvas, along with orange Nike Air Max bags and a white midsole, we want to get you prepared. Here are 5 Things From Champs Sports to Match With the Nike Air Max Plus. You can thank us later.
