10 Songs From Last Year That Need to Stay in Your Warmup Mix for 2015

  • 1. "No Flex Zone"

    Rae Sremmurd

As previously stated. Mississippi-born, Atlanta-based duo Rae Sremmurd dropped their debut album “SremmLife” today. But you were probably introduced to them with “No Flex Zone,” a catchy, Mike WiLL Made-It-produced record that features an infectious hook and energizing beat that will make sure that when you get to that final set, that you could push through it and come back looking for more. We’ve heard a lot of comparisons to another young Atlanta duo from the ’90s, but trust, these dudes aren’t missing any busses any time soon.

    2. "Fight Night"

    Migos

Numerous comparisons to The Beatles. Plenty of mentions of saving the world from its ills. The Atlanta trio of Offset, Takeoff, and Quavo make Migos. If you were anywhere near the Internet last year, you know that these three saints have created a buzz for themselves that was similar to the British Invasion in the ’60s, without all of the fainting from the kids. But you’ll need “Fight Night” to get you through your workout, trust us on that.

  • 3. "IDGT"

    Kevin Gates

“I Don’t Get Tired” is self-explanatory. When you’re in that last five minutes on the treadmill, play this song. Kevin Gates doesn’t get tired, and neither should you.

    4. "IDFWU"

    Big Sean

Yay, more acronyms! But seriously, DJ Mustard hooked Detroit’s own Big Sean up with a banger, and E40 goes in too. Sometimes you need a little anger to give you that boost, so think about that extra donut you had this morning, then play the song and it’ll make sense. The video is awesome, too. But we gotta keep it PG, so check it out for yourself.

  • Pharrell Williams

    5. "Move That D***"

    Future, Pharrell, Pusha T

Another one that you can put on to work out those Christmas carbs. This is from earlier in 2014. But the Mike Will-produced record still bangs, and the Pharrell verse remains a treat. Plus, the “push it” part makes for a decent personal trainer.

  • 6. "Trophies"

    Drake

The first of two entries from Drake. “Trophies” was used by some major brands to promote some major players this past year. So why not use it to promote your health? The horn sample is dope, and the pace is just high enough to have you reaching for your own personal title.

    7. "0 to 100"

    Drake

“0 to 100” was everywhere. But where it should be right now is near the top of your gym playlist. It starts out a little slow, just for you to pick up your pace by the start of the first verse. I guess that’s why the song is called what it’s called.

    8. "U Guessed It"

    OG Maco

Newcomer OG Maco’s infectious, energizing, and rather simple style was first heard by many, including us, on Vines. But if you were wise, you went seeking more than just six seconds of “You Guessed It” and were instantly hooked, and If you think we were hitting weights to this song, well, we will spare you the pun.

    9. "Jumpin Like Jordan"

    Rich The Kid, Migos

Rich The Kid and Migos join up to make a track that will have you trying to imitate the guy in the title.

    10. "About the Money"

    T.I., Young Thug

Probably the smash of the winter. T.I. and Young Thug rap about what is most important to them. Now, we’re not saying it should be most important to you, but just like them, you should workout to want an end result.

When it comes to working out, we get it. You hate the gym after New Year’s because there’s a lot less room for you to get those lateral raises, bench presses, and deadlift sets going. But, you have to do what you have to do, right? For others, you’re trying to do something new, something that will change your lifestyle and you need the perfect soundtrack to start it off. That’s where we come in.

Now since the year has just begun, with the exception of that new Rae Sremmurd that drops today (go cop that!), there probably isn’t a ton of music that’s in your library under the category of “2015” so what we did is provide you with 10 songs from last year to get you through that workout, and also allow you to block out that guy that sweats too much in the corner and won’t get off of the kettle bells. This list will get you through cardio, lifts, CrossFit, or whatever you might need so that you can shed the weight that you put on last year. So make sure your preset is set to bass boost or whatever the equivalent might be, and get to work, pardon the cheesy pun, but it’s definitely a flex zone here, dude.

From the homies Swae Lee to Slim Jxmmi to Big Sean to the cats who’ll have you throwing all sorts of weights around (Migos), here are 10 Songs From Last Year That Need to Stay in Your Warmup Mix for 2015.
