    10. A$AP Rocky - "Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2"

Rocky has been picking some insane beats lately. First came “Multiply.” Next up came this beast track, “LPFJ2.” And his most recent song “M’$,” which is certainly on this playlist, was dropped recently. “LPFJ2” is the perfect song to get your workout started. The beat is mesmerizing, the lyrics are punching, and the message is factual. Only 45 minutes left, let’s get this.

    9. Meek Mill – "B-Boy"

With Big Sean and A$AP Ferg

I’ve been obsessed with this track ever since it was released. Meek grabbed his two homies, Big Sean and Fergenstein, who absolutely crushed their verses. We know whose verse Meek liked the most though. This is a perfect song to get that extra jolt at the gym. “Bought her a first plane ticket…”

    8. Fabolous – "Shook Ones, Pt. II (Freestyle)"

The biggest sleeper on the list. Fab is up there as one of my favorite rappers of all time, so there is no way he could be left off of this list. His Young OG Project dropped a week before 2015 started, which eliminates all those songs from being added to this playlist. The tape is extremely slept on. On March 29, Fab dropped a freestyle on his SoundCloud which appears to be a leak off this rumored DJ Clue x Fabolous mixtape. “Shook Ones Part II” is absolute flames.

    7. Big Sean – "All Your Fault"

    With Kanye West

The Travi$ Scott influence is everywhere right now in rap. I’m not really sure how La Flame didn’t get the official feature on this track, but you can obviously hear his vocals and overall sound in the song. I am a huge fan of rappers using alternating lines in their songs. Sean held his own on this track, going bar for bar with his mentor, Mr. Kanye West.

    6. Ludacris - "Beast Mode"

The newest song on the list. I had to show some homage to the old rap heads. Ludacris just recently dropped a new album, Ludaversal. Surprisingly enough, there are some hits on the album, one of which is “Beast Mode,” which already has a music video associated with it. If you are one of the people that needs a nice 5-minute break in order to rest up for the second half of your workout, watch this video. Marshawn Lynch predictably looks like a beast.

If you haven’t seen the video for Ludacris’ “Beast Mode,” you should check it out here. Yes, Marshawn Lynch is a major part of the video. It is basically a promotion for his Beast Mode imprint. There is no boisterous chorus like we have seen in the past, rather Luda is just dropping punchline after punchline. Makes sense why he called the song “Beast Mode.” There are even weights being lifted in the video. So, get into beast mode and grind at the gym.

    5. A$AP Rocky – "M’$"

So the song that ends the “LPFJ2” video has finally been released to the world. On April 8, Rocky released his next smash, “M’$,” which has a similar feel to his two recent releases. This is the perfect song for the middle of your workout. It helps you understand why we do anything. Like Big Sean said, “Ain’t nothing more important than the Mula.” Lift those weights and make those Ms.

    4. Rihanna – "B**** Better Have My Money"

Rihanna stays dropping bombs. This song is a smash, there is no debate. I also purposely placed it after Rocky’s “M’$” to keep the money theme going. There is nothing like doing some bicep curls while singing along with Ri Ri.

  • Drake

    3. Drake - "Used To"

    With Lil Wayne

This is the oldest song on the playlist, but it is so, so necessary. Honestly, I am still bumping half of the songs off of IYRTITL. I could have thrown “Energy,” “10 Bands” or “6 Man” in this playlist. “Used To” bumps the hardest, though. The combination of Drizzy, Wayne, and the heavy bass makes this a necessary track to blast at the gym.

    2. Meek Mill - "Monster"

Meek Mill’s “Monster” is probably my favorite track at the moment. I have a strong feeling Dreams Worth More Than Money is going to be up there for album of the year. He has quietly dropped some gems recently with “Ice Cream,” “Monster,” and of course, “B-Boy.” The gym is all about motivation and Meek is best known for one thing: yelling. Put on this Meek song and finish up that final set.

    1. Kanye West - "All Day"

With Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom, and Paul McCartney

#ALLDAY. Enough said. If this isn’t on everyone’s gym playlist then why are you even working out? After this song and a nice workout, you will be feeling like a million dollars.

First off, I am the playlist god. Okay, I have been listening to too many Kanye rants lately, but I do think I make some solid playlists.

This year is off to a great start for the rap game. Kendrick Lamar dropped his To Pimp a Butterfly album; Tyler, The Creator dropped his Cherry Bomb album; Big Sean dropped a highly acclaimed project and Drake dropped an album randomly in the middle of the night during NBA All-Star Weekend. The first four months of the year might have the entirety of 2014 beat already. Don’t get me wrong — there were some very solid songs to come out last year. But this year has been next level.

We don’t just talk sports, music, and fashion here at The Drop. We live them, too. We are all about that fit lifestyle. And here I was tasked with coming up with a 10-song playlist for the gym, with only songs that were released in this current year. Anything prior wasn’t allowed. I had an idea of about 20-25 that could have made the list, but eventually came up with the following 10. The playlist is heavily influenced by artists like Kanye West, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, and Big Sean, four of the hottest rappers in the game right now.

Scroll though the list and let me know which songs are on your gym playlist. If you have any criticisms, critiques or suggestions, hit me up on the Twitters. I think you are going to enjoy this one.
