First off, I am the playlist god. Okay, I have been listening to too many Kanye rants lately, but I do think I make some solid playlists.
This year is off to a great start for the rap game. Kendrick Lamar dropped his To Pimp a Butterfly album; Tyler, The Creator dropped his Cherry Bomb album; Big Sean dropped a highly acclaimed project and Drake dropped an album randomly in the middle of the night during NBA All-Star Weekend. The first four months of the year might have the entirety of 2014 beat already. Don’t get me wrong — there were some very solid songs to come out last year. But this year has been next level.
We don’t just talk sports, music, and fashion here at The Drop. We live them, too. We are all about that fit lifestyle. And here I was tasked with coming up with a 10-song playlist for the gym, with only songs that were released in this current year. Anything prior wasn’t allowed. I had an idea of about 20-25 that could have made the list, but eventually came up with the following 10. The playlist is heavily influenced by artists like Kanye West, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, and Big Sean, four of the hottest rappers in the game right now.
